How to Track One-Time Donors and New Recurring Subscriptions in Stripe
A step-by-step guide on filtering invoices to find one-time donors and using the subscription shortcut to track new recurring sign-ups in Stripe
This guide walks you through how to identify one-time donors using invoices and track down brand-new recurring subscriptions.
⚠️ It is important to note that Stripe may change its interface over time. At Indiegraf, we do our best to keep this knowledge accurate, but it may not be a perfect reflection of Stripe.
Part 1: Finding One-Time Donors
To get a clean count of your one-time donors, you will need to filter out recurring subscription data from your invoices screen.
- Navigate to the Invoices screen.
- Change the frequency filter to One-off invoices.
Why? Choosing "subscription invoices" will pull a mix of both new and ongoing recurring payments. Selecting "one-off" ensures you only see standalone donations.
- Change the invoice status filter to Paid. This ensures you are only counting successfully completed transactions.
- Set the Created dates filter to your specific reporting window (e.g., the last 30 days) and click Apply.
The resulting total item count reflects your total number of new one-time donors for that specific timeframe.
Part 2: Finding New Recurring Subscriptions
If you want to track regular recurring subscriptions that were newly initiated during a specific window, use the Subscriptions shortcut.
- Navigate to the Subscriptions shortcut or menu.
- Filter by Created date to isolate your target window (e.g., the last 30 days).
- Click Apply.
This will generate a list showing only the subscriptions that officially started within that date range. You can click into individual entries to verify their start dates if needed.
