Product Demo: Automations RSS Blocks

Learn how to use RSS blocks in the Indiegraf email editor to automatically pull latest posts, images, and metadata directly into your newsletters.

How to Build RSS-Driven Emails

With the Indiegraf email content editor, you can automate your newsletters by using dedicated RSS blocks to fetch content directly from your website's feed.

Adding the RSS Start Tag

Before adding any content, you must define the source of your feed:

  • RSS Start Tag: Scroll to the bottom of the blocks menu and drag the "RSS Start" tag into your editor.
  • Configure Feed: Click "Edit" on the tag to enter and confirm your RSS feed URL. This tag is essential as it tells the following blocks where to pull information from.

Building Your Layout with RSS Blocks

Once the start tag is set, you can use various RSS blocks to design your email:

  • RSS Image: Add an image block and select which post to feature (e.g., select "0" for the latest post).
  • RSS Title Link: This block automatically pulls the article title and creates a hyperlink to the page. Ensure it targets the same article number as your image.
  • RSS Content: Use this to add specific metadata such as the article description, author name, or publication date.
  • RSS Button: Add a button that links directly to the article. You can customize the button text, such as "Read the story".

Customizing and Saving Rows

  • Styling: You can customize the appearance of any RSS element—including fonts, sizes, colors, and alignment—through the "Content Properties" menu.
  • Saved Rows: To save time, you can access pre-existing RSS layouts in the "Rows" tab. If you use these, remember to edit each element individually to ensure they target the correct article in your feed (e.g., setting elements to "1" to show the second-to-last post).

Previewing Your Email

To see how your content will look to subscribers, click the eye icon in the top right corner. This will generate a preview showing the actual data retrieved from your RSS feed.
