Product Demo: Default Thumbnail

Learn how to use the default thumbnail feature to quickly add custom images to articles missing thumbnails and maintain a consistent site layout.

The default thumbnail feature is a way to quickly add a custom image to all articles that are missing a thumbnail. Without this feature, some articles may appear without an image in the right sidebar or the main left column.

To upload a new custom image that will apply to all articles missing a thumbnail, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the Site Options menu.
  • Select Layout.

  • Upload your image under Default Thumbnail.

Once uploaded, you will see how the image applies to your site. For a generic look, you might consider using an image of your site's logo. The chosen image will then replace any empty spaces where thumbnails were previously missing.

Please note that this default featured image will not be applied to the featured post. This is to prevent repetitive branding, such as your logo, from pushing content down too far. In these cases, the article's name remains the most important information, especially when no specific image is assigned.
