🧑💻 Adding and Managing Users in Your Indie Website
Hi! In this video, I will show you how to add and manage users in your Indie website.
Let's begin by looking at how to add a new user.
➕ How to Add a New User
-
We can add a new user to your site through your dashboard menu.
-
Go down to Users and then click on Add New User.
-
Once here, fill in the following fields, making sure you complete the required ones: Username, Email, and Password.
-
For the password section, we strongly encourage you to use our "Generate Password" button. This will give you a very strong and safe password.
-
There are also a lot of other fields that are not required, but we encourage you to fill out as many as you can.
🖼️ Understanding User Profile Fields
Next, let's learn about user profile fields.
-
For this section, go down to the bottom to the section titled "User Profile Fields".
-
These fields are shared on the author pages and on the User List design block.
-
So, if you're planning to use either of these, be sure to add their profile picture, their biography, and toggle on any of the social media they would like to display.
✏️ How to Edit User Profiles
Finally, let's take a look at how to edit your profiles.
-
You can edit your profiles by navigating to Users and then Profile in your dashboard.
-
Here, you can make changes to your existing information.
-
Something to note is that once a new user is created, their username cannot be changed (as you can see here, it's grayed out).
-
Once you make the changes you want, don't forget to click on the "Update Profile" button at the very bottom and save all your changes!
