How do I set retry schedules for failed cards?

Learn what happens in Salesforce when a credit card fails, how Stripe handles retry schedules, and how to prompt donors for new contributions.

If a contributor uses a credit card that fails and it creates a closed opportunity in Salesforce, does Salesforce create a new opportunity if the person changes their credit card in their contributor portal?

Setting retry schedules

With RevEngine, the retry and failure process moves to Stripe. To help handle these cases, you can set a retry schedule under “Manage failed payments” in Stripe’s Subscriptions and emails settings. You may also enable the option to “Send emails to customers to update failed card payment methods.”

This will allow the contributor to update their card before the contribution is closed. If it does close, failure notices will still be sent out of Stripe, prompting the donor to create a new contribution.
