How do I allow contributors to pay my Stripe fees?

Every contribution made on RevEngine is subject to fees charged by Stripe. You can invite contributors to pay these fees as a way to maximize their support for your mission.

In this article, we will show you how to offer contributors the option to pay fees charged by Stripe.

Enabling and disabling Stripe fee payments

To ask contributors if they want to pay for fees you incur for their contribution:

1. Sign in to RevEngine
2. From your Dashboard, find the contribution page where you want to invite users to pay Stripe fees and click to open it
3. Select the Edit icon in the main menu
4. Navigate to the Layout tab
5. Find the Payment Fees block and click on its edit icon
6. Toggle on “Offer option to pay payment provider fees"
7. Save your new settings at the bottom of the menu
8. Save your page by clicking on the Save icon in the main menu

Users who visit your page will now have the option to pay Stripe fees on top of their contribution. If they opt to cover the fees, their total payment will be listed on the Give button a contributor clicks to finalize their transaction.

How to opt contributors into fees by default

The default settings on RevEngine contribution pages will give users the option to pay Stripe fees, but they must toggle the setting to opt-in. By following the steps below, you can change that setting, which will opt-in contributors by default while giving them the option to opt-out.

1. From your Dashboard, select the contribution page whose settings you want to edit
2. Select the Edit icon in the main menu
3. Navigate to the Layout tab
4. Find the Payment Fees block and click on its edit icon to open the settings
5. The primary setting on the block editor is the Offer option to pay payment provider fees. This should be toggled on because it will show contributors the option to pay Stripe fees
6. Tick the checkbox labeled “selected by default”
7. Save your new settings at the bottom of the menu
