Automatically hiding responses

Use the "auto-hide" feature to filter out spam and trolls

While the vast majority of responses through your form embed are from genuine people, occasionally someone may submit something spammy or malicious. The Hearken EMS offers a way for you to get those responses out of view, either automatically or manually. To manually remove a single response from everyone's view, click "Hide" or "Delete."

This help guide is about how to hide responses automatically.

Note: Only admin users can view hidden responses, unhide them, and adjust the auto-hide settings. All users can manually hide responses. (More here about setting a user's role.

Hide by word

(The default keywords are redacted in the screenshot above because they are profanity.)

You can update your auto-hide settings under Your Team > Response Settings > Auto-hide in your EMS.

The words that will result in a response being hidden are any existing quarantine words and our default list (which is eight variations on two slurs that we couldn't think of a scenario where they'd be used in a non-slur way). You can add more words as you see the need by typing in the word and clicking the "+" button. You can remove words from the list by clicking on the "x" to the right of the word.

If you do not want to auto-hide any responses, you can uncheck the box to turn this feature off.

Where to review hidden responses

Once a response is auto-hidden, you can still find and review it if you'd like by going to the "Hidden" tab on your Responses page, where there are three tabs:

Responses that are hidden manually by using the "Hide" button are also located in the "Hidden" inbox tab. You can "un-hide" any response (whether it was hidden automatically or manually) by clicking "Move to inbox".
