How to Create and Add Polls to Your Website
Engage your audience and gather valuable insights by adding polls to your pages and posts. This guide will walk you through creating a poll and embedding it on your site.
Creating a New Poll
- Navigate to Forms: In your site's left sidebar, go to the Forms section and click Add New.
- Start Blank: Select Blank Form and enter a title for your poll.
- Add the Poll Element: On the right-hand side under Advanced Fields, drag and drop the Poll element into your form.
- Customize Your Question: Click on the poll field to:
- Edit the poll question.
- Add an optional description.
- Select the Poll Type: Radio Buttons, Drop-down, or Checkboxes (referred to as chat boxes).
- Edit Choices: Click the Edit Choices button to add, remove, or modify the response options for your question.
Advanced Poll Settings
- Description Placement: By default, descriptions appear below the input options. To change this, go to Appearance on the right sidebar and, under Description Placement, select Above Inputs.
- Required Fields: To make a question mandatory, check the Required box under the field's options. You can change how the required indicator appears (e.g., as text or an asterisk) by going to Form Settings and adjusting the Required Field Indicator.
- Add Additional Content: You can enhance your poll by adding other fields, such as titles, text blocks, or images.
Adding a Poll to a Page or Post
- Insert a Poll Block: While editing a page or post, add a new block and search for "Poll."
- Select Your Form: Choose the poll form you previously created from the list.
- Adjust Visibility: In the block settings on the right, you can choose whether to display the form's title and description.
- Keep AJAX Enabled: Under the Advanced section in the bottom right, ensure the AJAX toggle remains on. This allows results to display immediately after a user submits their vote without reloading the entire page.
User Experience
Once a user clicks Submit, they are instantly shown the Results View. This view displays a breakdown of all answers and shows the total number of participants who have taken the poll.
