Product Demo:  Customizing the Latest Post Block

Learn how to use the updated latest post block to customize your homepage with flexible column layouts, image placements, and text size options.

New updates to the latest post block provide more control over your homepage's appearance and flexibility.

Adjusting Layout and Column Count

  • Columns: You can now set your latest articles to display in one to five columns.
  • Total Posts: Select the total number of posts featured in the block.

  • Grid Examples: To create a 2x4 grid, set the column count to two and the total number of posts to eight.
  • Responsiveness: Images automatically resize based on the number of columns and the width of the container they are placed in.

Image Placement and Element Visibility

  • Thumbnail Positioning: Customize the placement of featured images. Options include placing the image on the left or on top of the article title.

  • Hide Elements: You can still hide specific elements such as bylines and excerpts to focus on article titles.

Text Size Options

  • Size Selection: Choose from four text size sets, ranging from small to extra large.
  • Impact: These settings primarily affect title sizes, though they may also impact bylines and excerpts.
  • Standard Sidebar Look: To achieve a standard sidebar appearance, select one column, image placement on the left, and the small text size.

Mobile View Considerations

  • Column Limits: Regardless of desktop settings, the mobile view is limited to a single column due to space restrictions.
  • Text Sizes: Mobile text sizes generally remain the same regardless of desktop selection, except for the "small" setting, which slightly reduces mobile title sizes.
  • Mobile Image Placement: By default, mobile layouts place images on top, but you can override this to place images on the left.
