Learn how to quickly duplicate posts using the Clone tool. Follow our easy step-by-step guide to find, copy, and manage your post drafts.
Duplicating a post (or "cloning") is a quick way to create a template for new content without having to start from scratch. Follow these steps to create an exact copy of any existing post.
Step 1: Locate Your Post
-
Navigate to the Posts menu in your dashboard and select All Posts.
-
Use the Search field located in the upper right-hand corner to type in the name of the post you wish to duplicate.
Step 2: Choose the Clone or New Draft Option
-
Once you find the post, hover your mouse over the post title. A menu of options will appear underneath.
-
You will see several actions: Edit, Quick Edit, Trash, Preview, Clone, and New Draft.
-
Click on Clone or New Draft to begin the duplication process.
Step 3: Manage Your Duplicate
-
After clicking Clone, the page will refresh automatically.
-
You will now see a second version of the post in your list.
-
Note that the duplicated post will be set to Draft status, ensuring it isn't live on your site until you are ready to publish it.
- If you choose, New Draft, you will be automatically sent into the post editor to make your post changes.
Tip: Using the "Clone" feature is ideal for maintaining consistent formatting across multiple updates or series of posts.
