How do I export data for NewsMatch reporting?

Learn how to export and filter your RevEngine contribution data to a CSV file to meet your year-end NewsMatch reporting requirements.

Through NewsMatch, individual donations made to nonprofit newsrooms between November 1 and December 31 are eligible for matching funds from a coalition of national donors. Newsrooms that want to receive these funds must first submit documentation to NewsMatch showing how much they’ve collected from their audiences.

In this article, you'll learn how to export contribution data from your RevEngine dashboard to help meet your NewsMatch reporting requirements.

See Newsmatch’s reporting page for more information on reporting requirements.

You may also export your payment data via Stripe.

Exporting contributions

You can find the export tool in RevEngine’s Contributions tab:

  1. Sign in to the RevEngine dashboard here.
  2. Navigate to the Contributions section under Activity in the main menu panel. You’ll find all contributions collected through RevEngine displayed in a table.
  3. Click the Export button at the top of the Contributions page. Your data will be sent as a CSV file to the email associated with your RevEngine account. You can import this file to Google Sheets or Excel to analyze it for NewsMatch reporting.
  4. This data contains all payments that were received through RevEngine. Note that this likely includes those made outside of the NewsMatch period. Delete any contributions made prior either prior to Nov 1 or made after Dec 31, 2025.
  5. Once complete, check out this documentation for next steps on submitting your Newsmatch documentation.

Your RevEngine dashboard will only show contributions collected through the platform. If you are using other platforms to collect donations, such as PayPal, you also will need to pull data from those external sources to answer NewsMatch’s reporting questions.
