How can contributors update their payment method?
Contributors can securely update credit cards and subscription amounts via a magic link sent to their email from the RevEngine portal.
If a contributor needs to update the billing information for an active recurring donation, they can change the credit card on file for their payment in RevEngine’s contributor portal.
Providing contributors portal access
Your organization has a unique link to its RevEngine contributor portal. To find it:
- Sign in to your RevEngine dashboard
- Select the contribution page to whose portal you want to link
- Click on the Grab Link button on the top bar of your page editor
- You will be shown links to your live Contribution Page and the Contributor Portal.
We suggest that you share this URL with contributors on your main site, contribution page, and email communications to make it easy for them to find.
That link will take them to a portal homepage where contributors input the email address they used to make their contribution. They’ll receive an email with a secure magic link to the portal.
Changing the recurring payment method
In the portal, contributors will find a record of all their payments to your organization. By clicking “Change payment method” on active, recurring subscriptions, they will see options to update their payment method information.

A popup will appear prompting the contributor to:
- Provide a new credit card number, expiration date, and zip code
- Update the cardholder name

NEW: Updating amounts on subscriptions
Contributors will often look to update the amount on their subscription for future charges, and they can do so using their portal if you are on a Core or RevEngine + Salesforce plan.
Canceling a recurring contribution
See this article for an outline of how contributors can cancel their recurring contributions.
If you would like to cancel a contribution on behalf of a contributor, you can cancel it using Stripe.
