How can contributors cancel their recurring donations?

Guide contributors to your RevEngine portal via a unique link so they can self-cancel donations and instantly receive confirmation emails.

Contributors can cancel recurring donations at any time by accessing your RevEngine contributor portal.

Providing contributors portal access

Your organization has a unique link to its RevEngine contributor portal. To find it:

  1. Sign in to your RevEngine dashboard
  2. Select the contribution page to whose portal you want to link
  3. Click on the Grab Link button on the top bar of your page editor
  4. You will be shown links to your live Contribution Page and the Contributor Portal.

Share this link with your contributors so that they can access the portal. We suggest that you share this URL with contributors on your main site, contribution page, and email communications to make it easy for them to find.

After clicking that link, they’ll be taken a secure portal where they can view their transaction data and modify contributions.

Canceling subscriptions and confirmation emails

In the portal, contributors will find a table with all their payments and relevant details. There, they can cancel any active recurring contributions to your newsroom.

When a contributor cancels a recurring payment, they will will be see a popup modal asking them to confirm this change. Once cancelled - the status of their subscription will be updated to “canceled” in their portal.

Your supporters will get a confirmation email after cancelling their subscription, and will also be notified every time they:

    • update the amount of their subscription (for Core or RevEngine + Salesforce users)
    • send themselves receipts for subscriptions (for organizations that send receipts through RevEngine)
    • update their billing information (name or payment method)

    When contributors cannot access their portal

    If contributors made a payment under the wrong email address, they will be unable to access their portal. You can cancel the payment on their behalf using Stripe.
